Aon Convenes Leading Chinese Businesses to Discuss Their “Journey to Greatness”

SINGAPORE - Media OutReach - 18 July 2016 -

  • Aon hosts symposia for Chinese business executives in Beijing and Shanghai
  • Manchester United Tour 2016 in China is presented by Aon

Aon plc (NYSE:AON) today announced it will convene Chinese business leaders at symposia in Shanghai on 21 July and Beijing on 26 July to discuss their "Journey to Greatness" -- the risk and talent challenges and opportunities facing Chinese enterprises.  The symposia are being held in conjunction with Manchester United's Tour 2016 presented by Aon.

Journey to Greatness

Executives from leading Chinese businesses will gather to discuss opportunities associated with building a team and preparing for unknown risks in today's dynamic global business environment. Key topics will include best practices in developing and retaining talent in the region as well as the dynamic environment of emerging risks facing Chinese enterprises, including terrorism and political violence, and risks associated with overseas mergers & acquisitions (M&A).

Aon's 2015 Global Risk Management survey reveals that a failure to attract and retain top talent is a leading concern among businesses in China. "The shape of business in China is changing, and as a result so are its talent challenges," said Peter Zhang, Partner and Head of Performance & Rewards at Aon Hewitt. "The economy is transitioning from a reliance on significant infrastructure investments to consumer demand and innovation -- this is the 'New Normal.' At the same time, established businesses are trying to cope with competition for top talent from emerging startups along with the rise of social media. Clearly, the war for talent is in full swing and businesses must transform their approach to talent management to sustain growth."

In addition to developing and retaining talent, Chinese enterprises also face a number of emerging and interconnected risks due to globalization. "Chinese businesses are increasingly looking for opportunities abroad," said Charles Xia, Executive Director at Aon-COFCO. "Record-breaking growth in China's overseas mergers and acquisitions is set to continue, and Chinese firms need to be prepared for the unforeseen risks that could arise, including terrorism and political risks, increased compliance and more."

Xia will discuss these trends and potential strategies for Chinese enterprises affected by globalization and interconnected risk at the "Journey to Greatness" symposia.

By helping clients to solve complex talent challenges and anticipate unforeseen risks, Aon empowers results for organizations around the world.

Since 2010, Aon's Principal Partnership with Manchester United has served as a vivid representation of how the firm's expertise helps leading companies address issues related to risk, retirement, health, talent, data & analytics, and capital. In 2013, Aon announced a seven-year extension of its partnership which includes the naming rights to the Aon Training Complex, the club's world-class training facility designed to keep players in top physical shape to ensure their success both on and off the pitch, branding on the training and transition kits, the presenting partner of the international pre-season summer tour and the Manchester United Business Network, and a formal partnership with the Manchester United Foundation.
